Being bilingual can be such an asset no matter where you’re located or the type of industry you work in. I’m curious if anyone here has ever had their employer cover the costs of learning a second language. Any recommendations for online language learning resources (other than generic apps like Rosetta Stone and Duo-lingo)?

Are you working at a foreign-owned business and needing to speak the language of the home country? Those generic sources (including Babbel) work decently enough.

Probably if you've moved to an international branch of one company but I don't see why there would be a need for that here in the US nor would they reimburse the cost. Does your company need foreign speaking personnel?

I am frustrated as a Gay Woman who has given her all for 30+ years grinding to be the best. I have been in closet, out of closet, in-between and am tired of it. I want to be VALUED as a human being. I have gone from Rock Star to problem when people "found out". I have trained and promoted hundreds of people and been passed over for promotions because of not being a man. I have trained men with less experience, worse results only for them to move forward. If Diversity is important...prove it!

I'm in desperate need of tips to get genuine buy in from our predominantly white, male senior leadership to create a more inclusive environment. As is often the case, middle management and below is very diverse and then at Director+ it gets much more homogeneous. So far any real initiatives get shot down in favor of performative actions to post on SM. Is this just how it is, or can we try something different?
