People just don't want to be the bearer of bad news.
I once interviewed for a role which went well but didn't get any response/feedback from a French recruiter regarding next steps so I messaged the interviewer directly.
He said, we cancelled the role. Months later, the same recruiter messaged me saying we have another role for you and btw the last role didn't happen.
I am thinking like you could have told me this at that time but you're only telling me now as you need to staff this opportunity.
Recruiters/people behave poorly and then act oblivious or innocent when in need hoping this would maintain their relationships but others remember.
Because they are not smart enough…don’t know how to build a network. They just want to achieve target.
They are the tinder generation of recruiters

I don’t like the recruiters here one bit, but I think it’s a deeper downstream issue - team leads and directors and executives from this part of the world (of which I’m from) can’t make up their minds, hiring mandates exist one day and the next day they’re gone
They focus on the target, not the candidate
