BCG dubai had some firings...true?
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I don't know about other offices / firms (and would be curious to hear) but, we have basically stopped hiring at that level in our office as it basically never worked out.
I definitely wouldn't generalize my comment too much. The tone was very much meant to be "I have very limited visibility on this and can only speak to my firm and geography".
Interesting to hear about the T2 outreach. I do see adds they post for senior roles and am always a bit surprised to see them.
All the same from what my friends at mbb tell me

I'll be the data point for this Q. Interviewed at two well known T2s recently and talked to a friend who is a partner at a third.
First T2 was basically just walking the bases between partners as they tried to think about what industry/capability I could best slot into. Those were very fun, engaging conversations about the work they were doing and my background and experience. The interviews were all labelled as cases but the partners were shocked that was the case and just wanted to speak qualitatively instead. Eventually I spoke to the lead partner in the practice and that was where the process ended (I read it as a bit of a personality clash and a mismatch in type of experience they were trying to fill).
Second T2 was case-oriented, but the cases were much more focused on structuring, how you would assign your teams day 1, how you'd structure your exec presentation, etc. I kept trying to suggest a quantitative table to solve the actual issue at hand, but didn't get the sense they actually wanted me to do math. Second interview was a very light case, again a bit of structure and then a bit of role play with team/client situations. Both interviews with senior level people.
Third insight is another T2; but they hire very rarely at that level so the process is basically super bespoke the whole way through. They basically figure out where they might want to slot you and then build a process around that; so lots of conversations before you enter a process.
