Why wouldn’t you review what was generated before meeting with the client? This is on you.
This. Pretty basic.
Thank goodness the bill ain’t gone out yet
Ok I do want to add that even if you review some of them, you can't trust it! Many of them did copy over correctly, so I just figured it would be consistent. Not as a defense, but to emphasize that even if it's only a menial task and starts off perfectly, it could still go sideways at any point in the document/set. Because I know people who say they use AI frequently and with success, and I know I'm not the only one tempted to shave some time off their 10-12 hour day to just get home. But unless you're somehow an expert at it, remember this story and just say no! 🙅♀️
Or just do the minimum level of effort and review fully
As others have pointed out - go ahead and use AI to simplify certain tasks if you like, but this isn't a binary use vs. not use. IF you use it, you obviously still have the very basic professional, ethical, commonsense obligation to review it before using it for anything that will impact a client. This isn't complicated.
That said, yes, obviously ChatGPT is going to be of limited use for lawyers. It basically crowd-sources so it's going to be garbage in, garbage out for our industry.
