Do you ever conduct the hiring process for a research project? What do you look for in potential hires?

I look for candidates who have a strong academic background in the relevant field of study, as well as previous research experience. I also evaluate their writing skills and communication abilities.

I typically look for candidates with strong research backgrounds, as well as experience conducting empirical research. Additionally, I place a strong emphasis on communication and writing skills, as it is important to be able to effectively communicate research findings to a wide range of audiences.

I do occasionally. When looking for potential hires, I typically look for someone who is knowledgeable in the research topic, is proactive, and can think critically.

What is one of the most frustrating parts of being a scientist or researcher?

I'll tell you what it is: referencing!

You have to do so much of it, and it's so annoying. You have to cite your sources, but there are so many different formats for citations! And then sometimes you don't even know how to cite something, and how are you supposed to know that unless you ask someone who knows? And even then, they might not be sure whether it should be an in-text citation or a footnote…
