Do you ever conduct the hiring process for a research project? What do you look for in potential hires?

I look for candidates who have a strong academic background in the relevant field of study, as well as previous research experience. I also evaluate their writing skills and communication abilities.

I typically look for candidates with strong research backgrounds, as well as experience conducting empirical research. Additionally, I place a strong emphasis on communication and writing skills, as it is important to be able to effectively communicate research findings to a wide range of audiences.

I do occasionally. When looking for potential hires, I typically look for someone who is knowledgeable in the research topic, is proactive, and can think critically.

Zscaler offered me position in Amsterdam for senior Qa. Offering 85k base pay and 20k equity for 4 years. I am 12 year experienced, feel lowballed with the offer.
How much can be negotiated here, what would be a good number to check with HR team?

Please drop any advice to prepare for a lateral interview! Any common questions, lessons learned or good questions to ask are also appreciated.

I had an interview with a firm today and they asked about my billable hours and whether I met them. I said no, but that other associates in my very small group have the same issue, and that we all have around the same number of hours. At the client an a consultant says... wow, I can’t believe how little client John Smith makes for that senior level role. They’d have to pay me minimum $350k to consider taking that job... Mean while, John Smith is a VP with 25yrs of legit experience making $250k+ in industry and consultant has an MBA and 4yoe. Entitled or reasonable to share in the team room??

Do you think all these violent and hate filled attacks are because people aren't getting the emotional/mental support they need, whether it's therapy at any age or help they needed but didn't get from a social worker as a child? My coworker is sure this is the case, but I honestly think there's actually something deeper wrong either with how these people are being raised as children, or how the warning signs these people give off are ignored or swept under the rug to save face.

I am fairly green in academia (< 1 year) and I want to shift to an area of research which I always wanted to do but never could as a Ph.D. student (because of conflict of interest).
The issue I am facing is that due to lack of my documented research experience in this field (read, lack of papers) I am finding it very hard to land any grant and reviewers keep saying "The PI hasn't demonstrated any experience in said research" blah blah.
Any advice on how to overcome this?

I remember when I first started working on my thesis project. My adviser asked me to get some funding for it, but he didn't give me any advice about how to do that. He just told me that if I wanted money for my project, I'd have to go through some kind of committee process and submit an application for funding from them. Sure enough, after weeks of writing applications and waiting around for responses from the committee members (who were always too busy), I eventually got approved for funding!
