As a client, I may have called a consulting firm or a business partner after hours, only a couple of times. It was an absolute crisis that couldn’t wait. Otherwise it’s never happened. So judge it according to the necessity of the call (yes emergencies could happen) but if it becomes a recurrent issue, then find diplomatic ways of refusing the call.
One of the ways to manage this is to have a cadence on Friday morning or noon to understand if there are any lingering issues that could boil over.
Grow up!!

When I was starting my career, a client called me at 2AM to see if I can attend a 5AM call…
I had regular 6pm or 6.30pm Friday calls organised by the partner. Everyone showed up! 30 mins!

Decline and propose 9AM Sunday.
Maybe 4 AM Sunday
it’s 9AM somewhere!
Having been a client once myself, I can say they don't care because we are a client services org, and they expect the work to get done. I am guessingany of them have to work on weekends and late in the evening. When we worked or have meetings is their concern
And using the word terrorist in this climate is really out of touch....especially after the anniversary of September 11.
That word is often used very loosely. It’s got no meaning now.
I drink on all calls past noon on Friday. Also some on Monday-Thursday.
I might need help. That’s a lot for one guy to drink.
Thai is why it’s important to delegate!
Your a consultant. You shoukd be available any time a client calls you.

Why are you answering at 5 on a Friday?
Just decline
Truly! Someone call homeland security !
Sometimes, this could mean that they think that you are not working hard enough, so they wanna make sure that you do that by setting a call at 5 pm on a Friday
Be mysterious and respond with tentative. Never cave to terrorism.
We do not negotiate with terrorists. Blow the project up.
My worst client would schedule calls at 5:30-6pm EST on Friday just to say “I’m not sure how to do this but I need it done by Monday morning 8am, so can you manage that? Kthxbye” and hang up on me

Your firm is getting paid right?
This is like going into a restaurant right before closing and ordering a meal, then telling the disgruntled waiter “you’re getting paid right?”
Just rude behavior if it isn’t an urgent matter.
Decline and submit back at 7 am daily to see how they like it
LOL. Yes, it is pretty cruel indeed. But I’m just happy to have a job right now. Believe me, I want improvements in the job, but I’ll take the 5pm Friday call…with bourbon in my glass.
I had a west coast client who said “let’s schedule a 4pm call so we can call sign off early”… we were an east coast based team
That is the joy of time zone split teams, never an issue when the job was done in person as you'd still be there at 4pm local time anyway
I would stretch the call 4-5 hrs to make sure they are online till at least 10 pm as well. No dinner or bathroom breaks!
Anyone thinking this is serious, I was joking.

Was just thinking you worked for LEK😉
