CohnReznick is making employees take CPA out of their LinkedIn profile after their name. What gives a company any right to tell employees what they can do with their personal profile?

SOMEONE CALL THE AICPA IMMEDIATELY

THIS NEEDS TO STOP

THEY DONT GOVERN CPAs !!!

likefunny

Well, if their regulatory oversight has determined that’s improper and you are part of their CPA firm what you do with your license does impact them.

Not providing context (such as which state you are licensed in) I’m pretty sure is against many state boards rules.

If you’ve never looked into the state rules a registered accounting firm is subject to they are not trivial. Working in public requires all CPAs in a firm to adhere to rules. You also agree to certain rules about your investments.

Isn’t it just common sense that the CPA is only licensed to practice in certain states lol

My husband works for Chase and Chase made him remove “MBA” from his LinkedIn profile. That was the first time I witnessed a company take that type of measure.

Wow are you guys ok over there?

Been hearing a lot of bad things about CR lately

Now they want to control ur LinkedIn profiles?

Run for the hills while you still can

CR has a high turnover I’m just saying get your time in and leave or you can get fired after a year and collect a severance and unemployment.

They likely don’t want other non PE related firms trying to recruit you.

My previous firm strongly suggested this after a PE investment, however they could only require we remove it from our email signature and remove reference to certain things on our LinkedIn job profile. If you do this make sure you set it to not announce your “change” otherwise everyone in your network will get a notice and it may appear fishy to clients

Happened to us too….

What’s the reason

At Deloitte I know that it's discouraged to put CPA in your name.

Lot of my old KPMG coworkers have CPA in their LinkedIn titles.

Exactly they want to water down our professional designations to make it look like any finance associate can do what we do.

And let’s be honest the finance folks are very good at what they do.

But accounting is its own beast.
