Why are you managing someone on the same level?
Thank you Grant Thornton. I definitely have the team player mentality. Let's get done together and let's make our lives easier. Not that kind of mentality: you do everything and I review it.
Work your ass off and grasp everything about this client asap.
I would suggest treating the person as an equal. I'm sure the other person probably feels threatened by the situation, but if he or she feels respected, the individual would be more of a team player.
New industry, new client, new everything
I had a similar situation as to where we were both seniors but she was familiar with the client and industry but I had more experience reviewing and managing; so we worked through the project together and tag teamed the engagement. It worked out well for both of us, and it was kind of nice to have someone to throw ideas off of.
Partner feels confident that I can do it.
Any tips? I really want to make this work.
I would be pissed if a person my level was managing me...
Would you? The person doesn't know that I am a staff 2, rising senior in October. I have been an acting senior since January. I just want us to work as a team, I have no problem creating wp and stuff. I feel like that even when I make to senior, I will still help out the others. I am a team player.
I'm in the same shoes as you, staff 2 acting senior. But if another staff 2 was teaching and managing me .. I would slack off and try to roll off the team
I understand EY but I wouldn't act the way you said. I would try to learn and actually feel comfortable because it's a person like me - staff 2. I wouldn't feel less or pissed off just because that person had more exposure.
