The Lexus can’t be beat. Tbh it’s not even a fair comparison vs the Volvo. The Volvo is a safe vehicle for sure. However, you lose a ton of money if you decide to purchase vs leasing. Also, the reliability of the Lexus will far outlast anything on the market.
Seems like a pretty good buy. What have you cross shopped? I really like the Genesis GV80, and BMW X5, but both are likely to be more expensive
Lexus RX, Mercedes GLE 350, and Genesis GV70/80. I don't quite need the 3rd row, but like the tall ride of a larger SUV
We have had 3 Volvo XC90s. Great cars. Current one is a 2019. Very few issues. Extremely comfortable.
I really like the current generation interior of Volvos. They look properly upscale and different from the German/Japanese crowds. That aside, you probably can’t get nearly as much in resale compared to a Lexus, but may be on par with the Germans as those also plummet in value a few years in. If your finances support it, I’d say go get what you like, and if you hate that decision later you can always take the loss, sell and buy a different one.
We have a 2021 xc90 T6 inscription that we bought CPO - really love it. Great car to drive, simple refined luxury and the T6 packs a decent punch. My main complaint on this generation of Volvos is the native CarPlay integration is very behind the market - worth going and testing it out to see how much it would bother you (depending on what you’re driving now and what you’re used to).
Volvo is the safest 💪
