I would ignore if I got an email like that. It’s not like recruiting where working with a former practicing attorney has benefits. I’d rather use a proven, lifelong realtor to find a place.

My guess is that local market knowledge is more important than being former big law. But having the law degree is probably a plus overall (especially in certain jurisdictions). Good luck!

I would be far more likely to work with a realtor I know than with a realtor who happened to be a former BigLaw lawyer. How does that point of commonality make you better at helping me to buy or sell a house? You understand what it’s like to make a good salary? Who cares?
Why not do both? Own a real estate company and have others be realtors doing all the work. Take a percentage of the cut.
Have you thought about moving to a smaller/regional firm and using your sales and marketing to potentially become a rainmaker? I was in a similar position a couple years ago and realized I was better at sales.
I also explored becoming an agent and a legal recruiter.
Ultimately I got an offer from a midsize firm who gave me all I needs to build a practice area. I’m in 7 figures for my book this year and likely to become equity partner. Happy to chat if you’d like to talk in general. DM me.
The freedom to do what I needed to develop business. Sponsoring/attending the right events, hiring someone to support me as my bandwidth is stretched, generally letting me operate like my own firm within the firm.
I have a partner who left being a real estate broker because she couldn’t lie *that* much.

Be a recruiter. Work significantly less (especially better hours - as a real estate agent, you’re doing showings when your clients aren’t working) and make significantly more- especially at the outset. Send me a DM.

My team didn’t go from 1 to 6 by itself.
To be clear, I would have the actual expertise and knowledge to be a real estate agent. The added bonus is that I have a law degree from a top school, can actual review and understand contracts, and my background shows I’m not an idiot.
Focusing on other attorneys as your client base makes little sense and being in the same field won’t help you get business imo. However, marketing your background and having a compelling story as to why your background important / relevant to clients does have legs.
I’ve worked with 2 realtors who missed a ton of things in contracts and made errors in writing up offers. They were super personable and highly reviewed realtors, but terrible at what mattered. A lot of realtors are not detail oriented and honestly not the sharpest. I’d market around that (in a way that’s not douchey of course)
I bought my house with a former big law lawyer as our agent, and she was excellent. She identified stuff in her diligence process that the seller’s agent was not aware of. We also appreciated that she understood our work schedules. I do think it would give you an edge, but it was just by coincidence that we found her.
Damn real estate is usually the exit option from onlyfans…
