I have interview scheduled and completed from Commonwealth Bank Bangalore location. All technical rounds cleared.
When I called HR i got a surprise answer..
They mentioned the position which I have intervied is different than the salary rem ranges. And my current salary is higher than position what they have got and asked for approval for rem ranges changes..
Is any one faced this? Ideally HR should know expectation and allocation before scheduling intervjew..

My firm offered lenovos and MacBook pros, kinda half and half among users. I chose MacBook because generally my work doesn't require windows (but even then I have a VM) and the MacBook tend to crash less due to all the company software on both...

I used to use Citrix in college to VM into a school windows instance for analytics tools from the uni, scary times 😳
my business case at EY
- improved productivity, satisfaction as measured by tons of data points i provided
- specific applications /use cases exclusive to mac
- 64 bit office
- overall performance vs base laptops provided
- ey bloatware + BSOD on windows was too much
- macos workflow in general
there are definitely some downsides but overall i’m a lot happier on my mac than i ever was. EY is also ramping up readiness for M1 macs which is going to bring massive performance and battery life gains with new hardware.
all it was for me was an email to my practice leader with a one pager biz case + request for approval to hit an internal code for $1K. you then open a ticket in self service with attached email and that’s it.
Mine was that I needed to run a bunch of bash / CLI tools and Windows Subsystem for Linux was blocked. So I needed either a Mac or a Linux VM. The Mac was the less scary option for IT.
Be in the few practices that automatically approve Macs for your work computer (experience design for me)
