Request your entire file and fire away
I fire attorneys as needed. I always know who is going to pick up the matter, and let them handle the transfer between each other.
Due to my state law I have to fire them first :/. I did fire them through email. The bill was 400.00 and they had the case for two years 🫠. I should have fired them a long time ago
It also depends on whether you’re already in litigation with the matter. If not, it’s easier. A letter stating that you’re wanting to proceed in a different direction should work.
If in litigation, you may need a formal letter to your lawyer detailing why you want to release them, because the judge may need to be convinced to allow counsel out of the case. It does not necessarily mean that there has to be any atty/client disclosure under seal submitted. But every judge is different!
Thanks! Not in litigation yet. So, I think it should be simple. Thank you
