Deciding between a senior AAS role at a big 4 and a senior accountant role at PE firm. Need some input on deciding which path to take if my end goal is to go into FPA

I would go directly into FP&A if possible or jump to FDD instead of AAS (although FDD definitely sucks for many reasons).

The roles you've mentioned don't align as well, but it's still possible to go to FP&A after if you insist on one of those two roles.

like

Yeah, I’m most likely going to continue interviewing. As of right now those are two options that are available to me, but glad to hear I can break into FP&A in either of those roles

I’d go with the AAS role

I am currently a year from finishing my PhD and was looking at VC's as a career path because I like to do meta-analysis of different climate change techs. I networked with VCs and one of them was receptive but didn't have the budget currently for a full time hire. They said they'd be interested in working with me to do a research paper over the coming semester, and was wondering if I could leverage this into a full time offer?

Is a white paper with a VC going to be attractive on my CV?

I am a 2nd year associate at a plaintiff’s firm specializing in toxic tort cases (individual). I’ve had the opportunity to be third chair on a trial, and will likely be second chair in an upcoming trial. However, given the track record of the firm and the amount of money at stake in each case, I am afraid I won’t get any first chair experience, if any, for at least another 5-7 years. I am considering staying at the firm but trying to get trial experience through side Pro Bono work. Thoughts?
