I got an offer for Manager in another big4. The salary raise is not too high
(12-13%) and less signing bonus as well. I would have to payback some portion of Deloitte's signing bonus from my pocket. I tried getting promotion internally within D Canada and targeted mid year promotion in Dec'23 but I have lesser hopes as there should be a strong exceptional business case. Not sure if I should accept the offer.
How long have you been at Deloitte? Depending on what your goals are, it may very well be worth it if you’re going for the title. I’ve been told many times that title over salary especially at a younger point in your career. I also feel like strong business case terminology is often times used as a cop out for the firm to basically just say no easily if you’re not going to be leading or bringing in significant material sales.
If you’re doing 2-5 years and jumping, the title will matter in determining the pay you land at when you leave, the salary will not. A senior making 125k might jump and get 135k and a manager making 120k might jump and make 165k.
Did you negotiate up from first offer?
That’s not enough of an increase to switch to another b4.
I tried my best and they increased it little bit but not significantly. They said this is the best they could offer else they will pivot to other candidates.
How often do people get recruited as managers to another firm as a current senior associate?
I’ve been recruited for M roles by a few other firms, and I’m SC at D.
