I realized a slow pace at work is really bad for me. A couple years ago I was experiencing burn out from my fast paced job supporting transactions, and believed by moving to a slower job in a lower cost area, I would be sailing off to the sunset. Wrong, I spend weeks following up with other teams, often times they forgot what we discussed, so I spent 50% if the time reminding them of the topics and next steps. I spend most of my time writing memos no one will read.

I keep starting huge projects or hobbies and being intensely into it for about 10 days/2 weeks, after which I forget about it and the project just lays around my house for months until I get interested in it again or I toss it out/donate it. It was fine when I was living alone but my partner is seriously frustrated with how messy the house gets and how much I spend on supplies for these things. How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't?
