Not an allergy, but perhaps an intolerance. My little one had terrible gas and belly pain. I reduced/almost eliminated dairy while breastfeeding and those symptoms significantly improved.
He is now able to drink cow's milk though with no issues. I did slowly wean at 12 months to see if symptoms would return (2oz milk/4oz BM) then slowly increased when I saw no belly issues.
Same here!
Yes, visible blood in green stools.
My son had very bad eczema, we had him tested (blood test) for allergies - found out he’s allergic to dairy and soy.
I did. He had weird poops and I got it tested. Turned out he had blood in his poop. He never ended up having a dairy allergy when he started solids. But we didn’t test dairy until he was 18 mos old
I cut out dairy to help my son with his acid reflux. I’m not sure if it was a true allergy, but cutting out dairy seemed to help with us discomfort. We introduced dairy when he was 9 months old and eating solids (we gave him yogurt) and he tolerated it well!
Cut out all lactase (not just milk). You have to be pretty vigilant and do it at least 6 weeks as it takes that long to get out your system.
Made no difference to any symptoms (green poo, eczema) and he grew out of whatever it was when we moved to solids. Was told that any allergy tests under 2 aren't generally advised as lots of false positives.
Good luck. There's lots of allergens you can exclude for so only so this together with a healthcare professional guiding you otherwise you will get confused quickly.
Lactase is the enzyme that breaks down lactose, do you mean lactose? Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in breastmilk so if your baby has a lactose allergy not eating it isn’t going to help.
Face rash, gas, reflux, blood in poop. I have cut out all 9 allergens in the last 6 months (that’s what docs recommended) and things improved. Except my mental health, I’m always hungry and don’t know what to eat 😆 trying to reintroduce slowly and dairy causes a lot of blood in poop.
My niece and nephew both had issues with dairy as babies. One was an intolerance and cleared up, the other is an allergy, I suppose it can go either way and you really need a doctor to tell you whether it is a true allergy.
My baby had an intolerance not allergy. It made her very colicky and spit up an excessive amount. We needed full sized towels nearby when I’d breastfeed her. Cutting out dairy, soy, and spicy food gave me a new baby. I reintroduced milk to my diet around 5 months and she can tolerate it here and there now
Major props to all the moms above. My first had visible blood in his stools, I cut our dairy/soy and all joy from my diet and it tanked my mental health and didn’t work for my LO. I wasn’t willing to cut out anymore from my diet, we switched to formula and that worked for our family. He outgrew it, he’s now 2.5 with no allergies/intolerances that we know of.
