Do bar associations reach out to current employers when looking at transfer applications? I work for a small firm in MA and eventually want to move back home to NJ, where my current firm has no office or work in. Not ready to tell them quite yet that I’m looking to leave but want to get the ball rolling on transfer process.

Do you mean the character and fitness application? Yes, you have to list all jobs you’ve worked at for the past 10 years for the NJ character and fitness application and they will send a questionnaire to all employers past and present.

Yes they do. I had to disclose to my direct supervisor because they wouldn’t accept just HR but I told them exactly what you did, that my family was in X state and I eventually wanted to move back years in the future but had to make this transfer now before the deadline.

I have a month left till my GMAT. Should I start solving the official questions timed or solve more untimed until I feel more comfortable? Asking because TTP is religiously advising on untimed strategy, but I’m currently struggling with timing especially CR; untimed sessions often make me take 3-4 minutes per question (80-90% accuracy). Thanks!

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? I've never worked at another firm.

Second year associate here who recently switched from litigation to corporate law. I am absolutely swamped while simultaneously having no idea what I’m doing ever and I’m feeling so burnt out. The partners are pretty great and feedback is constructive which I’m grateful for, but I’m so desperate for a compliment I’ve been saving any scrap of positivity in a folder 😭 it’s December 22 and I haven’t done my Christmas shopping because I don’t feel capable of thinking about it. I need a hug.

How are 1st year litigation associates dealing with WFH? I’ve been having terrible anxiety/panic attacks, and pretty sure my billables wont exceed 110 for April. I’ve been super stressed about it and don’t know how to move on to May with the proper mindset to make up for as much time missed as possible. CA courts are still closed, and I’m worried I won’t be able to exceed (or even meet) my May goal after April.
