Best (non-agency) company to work at in Boston??
Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

It’s more about hierarchy. I’ve never seen anyone talk down to an ECD, Head of Production, or Strat/Acc Director unless the person doing so is of equal or higher title.
True!
Respect, in any role, is earned, regardless of what dept you’re in. It’s no longer an ‘Ad Men’ caste system, nor should it ever be again.
There certainly used to be … but I am 30 years in the game.
This might be a you problem or just a toxic workplace
Actually I’ve been in house several places and all have had this environment. Creatives or developers/anyone in execution that is the last step in the line gets shit on the most and is constantly having to do the marketers jobs. They demand a rush from lack of planning, no strategy and you’re lucky if they even come prepared with what sizes they need. Every dept treats them like fast-food order cooks. They want what they want, fast, top-quality and little effort to put in themselves. And if you push back at all you get scolded and they run to mommy to claim you’re not a team player.
I’ve worked both agency and in-house as a freelancer and contractor. In my experience, I’ve always felt more valued and seen on the agency side. The bullying mostly came from client side marketers trying to art direct. Or from CDs that didn’t have enough spine to protect their creatives from marketers. If I dared to stand up for myself, I was viewed as a troublemaker.
Do you have an MBA?
Thanks. Just got back from my timeshare in Tahiti
At my agency we have so many freelancers that I can’t even tell who is FT and who isn’t
Sounds like you’re at a shitty place - I would bounce
Hi ECD, Thanks for the reassurance. I send out the job emails with my morning coffee. Makes me feel better. ☀️
Either spit and brush or try to find something better. The grass can be greener…
CD1 for now, both. Thanks for the pep talk.
