You need better friends. There are people out there who will celebrate your wins and genuinely be happy for you, regardless of if they make less money, are ‘less successful’ etc - it may be hard to find these people but they do exist!

This hits close to home. I’ve had friends who turned weirdly competitive when my career took off.. backhanded compliments about my ‘fancy’ coffee order or eye-rolls when I couldn’t join last-minute trips. Here’s my take. Good friends celebrate your wins, not resent them. If their ‘jokes’ feel like constant digs, it’s worth asking: ‘Hey, I’ve noticed some comments about my job/money lately, are we cool?’ Their reaction will tell you everything. Do they reflect and apologize, or double down?
It’s not about the money. Some people are resentful and if you make more than them now they have more of a reason not to like you. Focus less on the fact that you make more and more on the fact that your friends don’t like you. Find better friends.
