Agreed. But I feel like I hear of everyone moving to better pay/better roles. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Really? I just got an offer which is offering me double my consulting salary. But yeah, I'm in tech and advisory which pays me peanuts.
It's a function of practice area, experience, and network. I'm 4 years post-MBA, top tier consulting experience, and an almost 400k offer plus equity
Engineers in Netflix make between $250k - $500k.
Managers in Netflix make $600k+
A senior consultant caps at $130k. You get the multiplier.
That does sound like network was the biggest influence. I don’t think most people coming out of MBB get that.
Depends where you move, if it’s tech you may get a lower base but your RSUs will be higher
D1 what is peanuts, roughly? S1 I agree with you, I see people just walking into industry making over 200k
Yes, expect a pay cut + you are Strategy& and I've heard your salaries are quite ridiculous even within consulting. What're you making now (base + highest level bonus)?
What are these 200k roles? Looks like most corporate strategy roles are 160-170 salary for the 2 year post mbas
@EM1- care to share some more details on your exit? Tech sector? Bay area?
What was the base and other comp ratio?
Not true OP. Was a SM in D. Switched to industry at Sr. Director level with 35% base jump plus stocks. Overall package doubled from consulting.
Wow. I can’t believe industry is paying so much these days. What’s the catch?
Sorry was confused because your title says engagement manager which is a bit different from SM or Sr. Director. Also, were you making almost 300k as an SM?
Directors in Tech make 300k to start.
At Cisco? Or at the big four?
Across the board
I am an EM, not SM or D and definitely not making that money now
I have Engineer friends at Netflix and they aren’t making that
What number did they tell you? My data is pretty dependable. Netflix only hires experienced people and such people are paid a base of 160-180k and some stocks in Facebook, Uber etc. Netflix’s strategy has always been to pay a lot more than it’s competitors and pay it all in cash.
