I've always handled the animal. Helped restrain while Dr. Does their exam and get thorough history in a timely manner. Also SQ fluids, blood draws, vaccines, x-rays, anal glands, bandaging, nail trims, checking on hospitalized patients, ect... Not sure how it is everywhere, but here that's standard practice for clinics.
Depends on the size and structure of the clinic. Smaller clinics the assistants often end up doing some reception work but most of the time assistants are handling. Assistant vs technician is a little bit like orderly vs nurse though not always.
Absolutely! I do nail trims at my clinic, sometimes prepare them for surgeries or complex procedures, or I will take them back to the room
The assistants at the vet hospital I work at rarely ever do receptionist work.
Hi! I actually do both. I am working at a small-sized clinic.
Sometimes they do. It really depends on the clinic and job description. But based on my experience, they can do both.
