Yes, every year I deduct teaching supplies. I save all receipts. The max amount you can deduct is usually $250 per year on taxes.
How much I spend every year depends on what I need. On average I would say o spend between $80-$250. I try to stay under at $250 or less. Save all receipts.
I typically write off $300 of supplies, but I feel like that isn't anywhere close to how much I have to spend to keep my classroom running smoothly. I'm always grateful for things like TPT since I feel better about buying a worksheet or lesson plan when I know the money is going to another teacher like me.
I deduct the max every year.
I did for the first time this year. I thought I would not have enough for the max deduction only to have my receipts add up to over double that amount.
I use the max tax deduction as my budget. Some years (depending on the president) they let you deduct more. Keep all receipts. Also, dry cleaning can be deducted as you are in a professional career. Always ask your tax advisor since each state is different.
I save all receipts and take the max deduction
