Anyone from Boston Consulting Group Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working in non-consulting - Technology/Engineering/Global Services?
How's the work life balance? Glassdoor reviews are full of "long working hours" and hence wanted to know if it's the same with non-consulting folks as well?
How far is it true across the organisation?
Please help me shed some light to decide.
Thanks.

I wouldn't say their judgement is clouded because that implies they're wrong in some way. Everyone has a reason for their beliefs and it doesn't necessarily make them wrong.
That being said, it depends on their perception of law enforcement before meeting you, and depends on when the topic of employment is brought up (upon meeting, days later, etc).
I personally don't bring up the topic of employment unless it's brought up, and unless they push for details, I usually just say I work I work in law enforcement. The unit I'm in allows casual clothing with facial hair so it makes it harder for strangers to assume what my role in law enforcement is, unlike the cleancut and maintained patrol officers.
I do have the advantage of being liberal and what I mean by that is I have an in with both sides. If they like cops, awesome then I'm just a cop. If they don't like cops because of politics then that's ok too because I'm a liberal cop, and that tends to open up avenues of communication with groups that otherwise wouldn't be open to it.
Hey thank you for sharing, it's good to know that we can still find ways to connect with people with widely differing opinions. I lean a bit more conservative so I worry that others will just start making crazy assumptions about me both because of my job and views.
Totally, it seems to me that since I became a cop I am nothing more. Even my old friends now see me as just another cop and not as the person they knew before, it's annoying.
That's tough to hear, but maybe you're better off without shallow people like that in your life
There's certainly been a few people who form their entire opininon about me based on my job but they're not common enough for me to think that's the norm. People will judge you for anything you do in llfie
