Do you feel like salaries are going to drag downward with AI for actual human work? In the last year I have seen record breaking profits at my firm with lower than usual raises and it just feels disappointing. Does anyone feel the same way or is it just my firm being greedy compared to others?

Situation:

As an engineer with a functional knowledge (but no former training) in IT and data analytics, what are the best avenues to get to 200k without changing fields and starting at an entry level position (or moving to a HCOL area)?

Need some suggestions: My current company is on a layoff spree and 2 rounds are already done and I can foresee another round coming very soon.

While I am trying to switch to other companies, I’m not able to reveal the real reason from my side for the job change, as if I say, it’s because of layoff fears than it’ll reduce my negotiation power.

What other reasons can I give as I’ve just completed 9 months here and it’s too soon for any other company to take me in.
