Depends on the bottle. Willett purple tops or BTAC… absolutely you can tell the difference
The point of diminishing returns gets moved easily when it’s something as subjective as “better”.
The best I’ve ever had going from memory was a ‘16 GTS that was gifted to me by a Sales VP I supported when we got a 9-figure deal across the line. He also sent my wife a bottle of Opus One.
Most overrated OFBB.
VP is Vice President…
Not always, but many times it's true. The more expensive bottles at retail usually have a justification (higher proof, longer aged, lower yield from angels share, etc.)
Not at all. I've found sweet spot to be $50-$60 retail 750s. When you start getting more than that you are frequently paying for gimmicks or inflated price based on some spike in demand. Great example is Blanton's. It's good at $50 and used to be easy to get. Then everyone "had to have it" and price spiked for same stuff.
Don't get me wrong though. There are some amazing bottles that are more expensive and worth the price, but generally speaking, I've found great flavor profiles and options in the $50-$60 range (often less) that make me not willing to drop more cash.
