Any facial recommendations in the city?
Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.

Pros:
Lots to do
You will likely have a better career and more friends here than elsewhere, and that should be important for them
Cons
Less space : more expensive
More young people stuff than old people stuff
They may not have friends / community here, though can’t be that hard to find
My thoughts exactly!
For sure. Good weather. Flat. Availability of help. Only con is it’s expensive
Not too worried about the cost more so if they'll enjoy it
Pro
It’s great if you/they can afford it. Always good to have family nearby. Great weather and lots of old people friendly day trips (napa, Carmel).
If you/they can afford it is the biggest question, a couple of SFH (one for you, one for them) will run 3M+.
I already have a home out here so it would just be for them. Nothing big since it's just those two
Any place can be good to retire in depending on what the retirees are looking for. What do they like and want?
And importantly, what other alternatives are you considering? Don't discount places with lower COL (which is the whole country except Manhattan). Many seniors face financial struggles sooner or later, so a cheaper area could noticeably extend their savings.
I want them to be able to have a community and I wanted them to be close so we can visit and have them see their grandkids
