I prefer working independently and keeping collaboration to a minimum. I’ve always been a lone wolf and like to handle my work without relying on others. Team huddles are fine, but I don’t need more collaboration than that.

Thanks for chiming in, there’s definitely a range of preference here and independent work is okay of all members are aligned on how everything connects together
Being on a team with people I enjoy interacting with is the best.
I've experienced a lot over my 35 years as a software engineer, but I keep coming back to good people being way more important than whatever domain or technology the company happens to be in.
A good team that foster open discussions and let a multitude of different experiences mingle can achieve a lot more then a set of talented individuals that sit by themselves. And it will be a lot more fun.

I love this kind of team too. And hearing this from a staff engineer is extra awesome because of the presence and space that role particularly takes
I've been involved in both scenarios. I believe it works well each way, but it also depends on the specifics of the project and the capabilities of the individual players.
The key is that there should be full support for those who may be less experienced from those who can mentor.
The worst possible situation is for individual egos to get in the way of moving the project forward for the success of everyone.

We wouldn’t want that! Let’s get stuff done and help each other get there
I like being on teams where I enjoy who I'm working with. I thrive better in collaborative and learning environments. I would crave for an environment where I can freely tap any teammate on the shoulder to bounce an idea without worrying about what the manager is going to think

Me too! I like to lead teams this same way
Somwhere in the middle. I like collaboration when its needed to make sure ambiguity is resolved when it can, that blockers are unblocked (second set of eyes). I love collaboration with a good team where we are mutually respectful and intellectually curious.
I am fairly introverted, so when I have a task, i like to be uninterrupted for long enough to complete it without the exhaustion of too much context switching

It’s really cool to be introspective and understand where in the spectrum you lie. Finding the right balance as a leader to foster this balance is really important too
