Do you think we’ll actually see more companies adopt a 4-day work week in the next decade? A few tech companies are already testing it out, and it makes me wonder if this could be the start of a bigger shift. With burnout so common and flexibility becoming such a priority, it feels like a natural evolution. But would people really be more productive, or would it just blur the lines between work and life even more?

I would like to see that become standard, but I don't have a lot of optimism that it will. Unless so many companies do it that it starts to make sense it just seems unlikely. Companies have to communicate with each other, and with markets, and being essentially inactive for a day would just create a lot of problems. Nobody wants to be the company that's out of sync.

Yeah, that’s a fair point. It’s hard to imagine a true 4-day week working unless a lot of companies jump in together. No one wants to be the one that misses a beat. I do wonder though, if burnout keeps getting worse, maybe the pressure from employees will eventually push the shift.

I don’t see it becoming a major movement. Some companies will offer it, but not widespread. I think most jobs are probably ½ to ¾ work to time anyway.

Totally get that, but I still think there’s room for optimism. Even if it doesn’t become the norm everywhere, seeing more companies experiment with a 4-day week could slowly shift expectations.

I think work could look a lot different even in the next 5 years due to new ERP systems and adoption of AI. Hopefully that leads to a shorter week.

Totally, with AI and smarter systems, we could have a shorter workweek without cutting the workforce.

I could see 4 day work weeks but only getting paid for 4 with AI replacing some work. I think it’s very field and role dependent. Just be careful what you wish for.

That’s a great perspective! I think it will really depend on the role and field, so the reality might not match the dream.

Tbh, it seems like companies are trying to leverage AI more instead of analysts. This means managers will have to watch over AI that works 24/7 instead of just 9-5. We may have an official 4-day workweek, but we'd always have to be on the clock in some sense.

Interesting perspective that it flips the idea of a 4-day week. The work rhythm changes, but the “always on” pressure could still be there.

I’ve been trying to get into the top tier Associate Product Marketing Manager position Google for some time now for just an interview and I feel like business majors somehow have such a stronger chance in getting interviewed especially my business school and I feel really discouraged as an Econ Major and I have a lot of marketing experience that I’ve built over the years. Are there any non-business majors in the tech realm in non technical positions at Google that can advise me?

Had a first round interview scheduled for a large CPG brand. My interviewer never called me, and I emailed following up to confirm the call. It’s been over a day and no response. What is going on with recruiters? I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, but not even an email back saying “something came up” or “we’ve moved on” ? I’ve been ghosted after every final interview during my recent job search, but never had I been ghosted before even having the first call??

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?
