ADHD wombo combo:
wanting everyone to get to the point immediately and zoning out if you think their sentence is going in the wrong direction. but also typing up multiple paragraphs/messages more than strictly needed for anything, complete with parentheticals or asides
Oh no this me
Yes. It’s been a lifelong struggle. My brain just wants the next interesting thing…
Yes. And 90% of the stuff that comes out of peoples mouths is just noise anyway. Unfortunately sometimes there are important things in that noise
I also have to fight the urge to constantly interrupt people mid-sentence. Its so embarrassing and I feel bad but my brain is like a rat on a wheel!
Dude, i try so hard not to but i catch myself doing it constantly, ESPCIALLY when you get to the end of someone else's sentence before they do.
Professor told me i have a "quick chip speed," which was so flattering and made me hate myself a bit less
Describes me to a T.
You are not alone. I can only hear blurring sounds from them and when something important is being said, then that's the time I get to hear and listen. I get to the point where I get impatient and it shows and I usually offend people with that.
My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.
I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".
How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?
Yes exactly. Make a homework assignment. One boss did it for me the other told me that was on me. I’ve reached out to accommodation for support
Yes. I agree!
And those are the people who get promoted lol
So. Much. This.
People these days are too verbose.
Omg. Yes.
And consultants loooooove their lingo and jargon and meaningless slides and sentences … all of which add up to not a whole lot of substance (sometimes).
Sometimes people talk just to hear themselves speak or just to be appearing to “add value.” Get a fidget spinner (if wfh) or pretend to take notes as a calming/self-soothing mechanism (you will feel like you are taking action/doing something even though you’re forced to sit and listen to blather).
