Dude are you insane? Why would you do that?
I moved from Boston to SF in 2018 and moving our stuff cost around 5k I believe (2 adults coming from a 1br/1b). Plus flights for us. The moving company was terrible though - they were non-responsive while we waited for our stuff and ended up arriving 2 weeks late. Fortunately nothing was lost or stolen on the way. I’m sure prices have gone up since then. In general, I’d get a range of offers and go for something mid-range. If a company seems unusually cheap, that is a red flag. Ideally go with a company someone you know had actually used, triple check their online reviews aren’t fake, and check if your renter’s insurance covers anything lost, stolen, or broken during the move itself.
Unless you have really expensive/irreplaceable furniture, you might as well spend the money on new furniture for the price you’ll be paying for movers. Alternatively, you can use a service like PODS where you load (and secure) the furniture/items yourself and they transport the container for you. That will be the most economical way to move cross country.
We just moved locally and used On Track Moving (ontrackmoving dot com). For previous moves we had always used Delancy street but couldn't arrange a date with them for this move. On Track were great - good communication, great team packing and moving, mid-range price. I think they do national moves too. Anyway, would recommend
