I retired after 27 years in 6th grade and a total of 29 years in education. Tutoring is a fantastic side hustle during the summer. I could not tutor any current on incoming 6th graders I might have, and I tried to tutor kids outside my district. I was busy. I had at least 3 or 4 students for the summer, and it seemed like a lot after a year of teaching, but I was able to charge $55 per hour no problem. The years I really needed a break I didn’t do it. I tried to schedule all the kids on the same day and they had to come to me. It was a great way to make easy money. The only suggestion I would make it to know what the parent really wants to focus on, oh, and do not tutor kids of friends.
I know several teachers in my district that tutor. It's good money I hear. Good luck
Never your own students for $$$. You might be asked the question of why tutoring them if you already had them for 9 months. I do understand tutoring can be very helpful for students.
I do have a side job, but not tutoring. I know it sounds bad, but the last thing I want to do after a busy day is more teaching. My side job has absolutely nothing to do with anything educational.
Considering it during the summer. Been kind of hesitant to sign up for an online platform, but hoping that it will make the process easier. Agree to make sure you’d not be going against any policies, we have similar ones as not tutoring current students.
On our district/state, we are not permitted to tutor our current students. Students in the district who have other teachers would be ok.
Tutor.com is a nice side gig. Doesn't pay a lot, but it's very flexible and you can work as much or little as you want.
Yes
It can’t be your own students. It can be different students outside of your district. It’s a violation of contract.
