Does anyone work in tax automation?

VC community - a recruiter (from an external agency) reached out to me in regards to a strategy position in the VC firm’s local office but I feel tremendously under-qualified as someone with less than a year of consulting experience. Do I have a chance to interview? How might I best demonstrate interest and competency?

Does anyone mind looking over my resume and giving some feedback?

I had final round interviews last week for the company I really want to work for. I have an offer from another company, which I communicated to the recruiter which expedited the interview to final rounds. I need to respond to the other company's offer letter soon. Should I follow up with the hiring recruiter for the company I want an offer from? Or just move on if I haven't heard back by end of this week?

Currently a MS in Finance candidate. Got into the MBA program with a finance concentration at the same school - Johns Hopkins. Don’t care about target , non -target (already happy with my role, industry, firm). What’s more valuable in terms of longer term prospects between the two degrees? Any thoughts or guidance?

Just accepted an offer with a psych startup. Not exactly the offer I was hoping for as I’m taking a slight pay cut ($73/hr) and it’s a 1099 position. I keep getting stuck on the 1099 piece because I’ll be working 40 hrs/wk, but have been told I’m not eligible to be a W2 employee. Needless to say, no benefits whatsoever. They don’t even provide a computer or any other remote equipment for the completely remote position. Am I making a mistake? Also, can anyone chime in about being a 1099 employee?

Has anyone made the transition from non-profit and small firm practice to federal government, big law, in-house? I’m a special education parent attorney at a small firm and I’ve spent my legal career in the education and juvenile areas of the law working for 2 non-profits before ending up at the firm. However, I’m just exhausted, unmotivated, and and looking for a change. At this point (6.5 yrs of practice), is that type of transition even possible or am I stuck due to the practice area?

I prepared a presentation for an interview with a sales leader, it went well and I was offered a final interview with regional manager. The sales leader I interviewed with gave me a bunch of feedback, but said to find out information about tech stack, which I for some reason, didn’t consider. I come to find out that deep, hidden within the website of the hypothetical client, they use the service already. Do I roll into the final interview and play dumb or do i present and then come clean?

Why is it when I owe money to a state from my annual tax filings, if I don’t pay the full amount I get charged interest. But when they owe me, they ask for additional documentation and won’t pay me interest for them stonewalling me. Not much volatility y/y in earnings.

Partnerships need to use market sourcing for purposes of calculating NR withholding tax (though NJ doesn't even call this withholding anymore).

However, for purposes of calculating the NJ distributive share of income, you apply Gross Income Tax (personal income tax) rules, which is 3 factor and includes COP.

If I end up with 0% apportionment under GIT and 10% apportionment under CBT (withholding tax), the partnership pays tax upfront but NRs get 100% refund?

I'm on a H1B so I am supposed to pay Medicare and SS taxes, but my employer has not withheld anything- my hnr block advisor caught that but she just completed my returns assuming I don't have to pay those taxes

What is the right protocol in this case? Do I owe SS and fica taxes?

Anyone making career moves out of SALT? Curious to hear where people are going and what career paths people are looking into.
