Need some help! Currently live in TX but work as an independent contractor (remote) for a NYC based company - do I still need to pay NY state convenience tax on income or would this only apply as a full-time employee?

Weird question- or confessional (unsure tbh)- do any of you ever play hooky? I billed all weekend (7 year atty in ID) and today is wicked weather in the south so I’m “wfh” but not really. I didn’t have time for Sunday scaries but now I’m having Monday guilts, as I cope by watching my dogs sleep and watch the GOT prequel out of the corner of my eye while going through emails. It’s not a monthly thing but I’m just tired. Thinking it speaks to my immaturity and hopefully not my job trajectory?

Does anyone know if the government allows remote work overseas? Or does anyone have a similar experience?

I started a new job last month and the position title is very vague/fluid and they wanted someone with a master’s degree, but they got me instead who has two bachelor’s degrees and seven years of experience in my field of digital marketing.
I asked my managers if I could receive my pay grade information to keep with my own personal records and they said, “In the interest of confidentiality we cannot share that”.

I accepted a role in New York City but my direct manager said I can work from home in Boston instead. My understanding is that I would be paying NY taxes, but not MA taxes. Can anyone here confirm? Also, would my employer have to incur any additional taxation because I am remote? How should I answer the question, “did you earn income working remotely by providing the services in a different state than the state you originally engaged employment with it”? If it matters, I never set foot in CA.
