AWS Developer -Deloitte USI - 15fixed + 0-10% Variable + 4LJB (retention bonus) 2. Sr security Analyst - AWS IAM - Sony India software centre - 17.5fixed + 3L Variable. Im very much interested in AWS Developer role but scared of WLB at Deloitte. Sony have a very good reviews and pay also better only concern here it is cloud security and limited to only AWS IAM.

Is 7 weeks too early to start thinking I may have made a huge mistake in switching to my current gig? I left the last place because it was overr toxic and terrible W/L balance, for one that seemed to be more “fun” and more realistic hours, only to find that I’ve now been working 12 -14 hours a day and just drowning and feeling like I cannot catch up or catch my breath. Everyone is in the same boat here which is why I’m so overwhelmed so quickly with no support. Is this an immediate red flag?

Companies are not people... despite prevailing law. Why do we pretend they will behave ethically?

From what I understand, ethics is separate from legal. Legal violations have consequences, ethical violations don’t. What’s the point of ethics if there are no consequences? Sure when it’s convenient to be ethnical, everyone will be. It only matters when it’s not convenient. So should there be ethics set up with consequences like loss of job that applies evenly for everyone in the company including the CEO? Should their be financial consequences set up for smaller violations?

One troubling angle was the use of NDAs to stifle victims. NDAs have for too long enabled bad behavior to continue, and it's time companies pledged to stop using NDAs in settlements with victims -- the coverup is worse than the bad acts. I think Warren torpedoed Bloomberg's campaign due to his use of NDAs. Thoughts?

How do you thoughtfully instill ethics with leadership and have that trickle down to the rest of the organization?

I’ve long disliked the term ethics. Definitions of ethics all refer to morals. Morals are very personal and vary a lot from person to person, culture to culture. Law is how we as a society express our preferences and impose rules and restrictions on ourselves. So the question should never be about whether companies can be ethical. What does that mean? One person thinks eating meat is unethical, another thinks it’s perfectly ethical. Companies should focus on complying with the law.

How is AirBnB ethical when its business model exists through legal arbitrage? It has functionally created rental property service without being subject to the same taxes and liability insurance of a regular hotel company due to the dubious claim of “It’s on the web.”
