Has anyone found a way to navigate and negotiate offer letter when hiring manager says “14-16 hours a day and 6 days a week is normal at the big4” ?

I have friends that have back office positions but never received an offer letter & their company still doesn’t use them now. Has anyone given notice & started a new position without an offer letter? What are your thoughts on company setting minimum pay rate expectations for a specific title and role, being promoted to that role, and not receiving the increased pay rate?

Hi all - asking for advice for a friend who resigned from his job (w/o job lined up) due to unethical and likely fraudulent actions leadership were taking. He tried to reason with the leadership team (c-suite, small company), but had no effect, so resigned since he would have to execute on those unethical/fraudulent decisions. As usual there a probation of three months during which the notice period is half the time as compared to if I was a comfirmed staff. How do you feel about leaving a company shortly after joining?

I've been told by people to not be loyal to companies & I've seen posts in forums where people have talked about leaving workplace 1, at workplace 2 for like 3 weeks, and already interviewing for workplace 3 (and the recruiter for workplace 3 doesn't even know that the person has left workplace 1). That feels a little disingenuous and...bad etiquette maybe? What do you think?

I could use some advice on this situation. I’ve been working for a small family owned business in Toronto Canada for about 4months. Ethics is a topic in computer engineering that I have had to dance around. In a federal capacity with a security clearance ethics didn't mean anything.

Do you think with so many businesses barely getting by now with the pandemic that we will see more and more sacrifice ethics for survival?
