What is the best compliance certificate to have?

The one that matches whatever compliance initiatives your company has and relevant to your role. I mean, don’t get ITIL certified if you’re in a Six Sigma or ISO 900x environment. Don’t go for SOX training unless you’re dealing with that material.

That being said, the company can make you sign NDA’s and non-compete agreements until you’re dizzy- but they can’t make you sign away your knowledge, experience, and certifications.

Thank you! I have my LPEC. I’ve done Cybersecurity work but moved into more of an enterprise role focused on HR. Thinking potentially SHRM? But would like to have an all over compliance focus.

I was contacted by an Amazon recruiter for a remote Sr. Program Manager role. I took and passed the assessment and was moved to the hiring manager round which was scheduled for tomorrow. I got an email tonight saying that the Director of the group decided that the person must be in Seattle. I am in Austin, which is not an option. I’m disappointed! The recruiter will let me know if any remote roles come up but in the mean time, does anyone have any remote Amazon roles that they’d refer me to?

Additional Posts in Ethics In Business

As someone who is virtually our only compliance person at a mid-size company, I often get questions for legal advice. I am not an attorney and cannot give legal advice (my disclaimer), but I do look at the situation from a compliance/policy/process lens and urge to consult legal always. I feel as though it discredits me and my advice because I’m not an attorney. How can I better differentiate compliance from legal and still provide valuable advice?

From what I understand, ethics is separate from legal. Legal violations have consequences, ethical violations don’t. What’s the point of ethics if there are no consequences? Sure when it’s convenient to be ethnical, everyone will be. It only matters when it’s not convenient. So should there be ethics set up with consequences like loss of job that applies evenly for everyone in the company including the CEO? Should their be financial consequences set up for smaller violations?
