Bain & Company I’m a PhD student looking to start in consulting and am looking to connect with other PhD/ADP consultants that went into consulting to learn more about the experience and how to prep for case interviews coming from a non-business background. Especially looking for advice on McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain & Company

300 sounds about right but for me that was spread out across 7 apps
I just found this post from 2013
https://poetsandquants.com/2013/06/12/applicants-spending-90-to-140-hours-on-mba-apps/2/?pq-ab-single=b
There's no way people only spend 30hours on GMAT prep I sunk in a good 100hrs god damn
Some people are good test takers or are tutors on the side
GMAT was prob 300 alone

I think the number will vary person by person so hard to average it. I think as long as you’re doing it at a manageable pace and not burning yourself out, then you gucci
Trying hard is a good thing! I probably spent 200 hours, but I only applied to 2 schools
The answer is you spend however many hours it takes you to put together an app that you think will get you into the school you are targeting…comparing your time to someone else’s won’t give you any actionable insights
Be careful, that is faulty logic. Quantity does not = quality and the app process is about quality. As others have said in this post…hours spent on an app depends on the individual. Also you aren’t competing directly with anyone and you’ll never know their “scores” so it really does come down to your individual effort and quality you put into your app.
