No. We’re all replaceable at the junior level and if you’ve gotten an offer somewhere else, they will probably just tell you to leave unless you were an all star and they want to retain you. But it will sour their relationship with you knowing that you were recruiting behind their backs. Coming from JPM
Appreciate your feedback. That’s one of my fear is to sour the relationship if I stay afterwards.
If I got a better paying offer, I would for sure give my company the option to counter. I'm not sure that they would, but literally the only complaint I have about my job is that I don't feel like I'm getting paid well enough. So if that problem were solved, I would be totally happy here
I am definitely in the same situation here. I enjoy working for my MD and the team is great. But below average pay if I’m being honest.
About the only time the purse string holders are open to discussing an employee's salary is when another company makes a higher salary offer. Just popping in and saying, "I think I deserve a raise" yields responses like, "People in Hell think they'd like a glass of cold water." The thing is, this company is very competitive. It puts winning above all else. If they think someone else wants you, they will be double-dog-damned if they are going to let that SOB win. Of course, you need to have proof of the offer before you start playing this game.
Yes, I am waiting on the letter. Should be today. The verbal offer was pretty solid.
