Does your health insurance cover mental health? Seriously going through it after losing a close friend to suicide and I just need some time to get back on my feet. Will I look like a liability for taking time off for this?

Take the time you need. It's worth it and if your job considers you a liability for taking care of yourself then it isn't where you want to work. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Thanks for your kind words. I'll think about it.

Most health insurances do cover mental health services. Taking time off to heal after losing a friend to suicide is not a liability. Prioritize your well-being and seek support from a therapist or support group.

It's really nobody's business why you take time off. Just ask for a days off and take care of yourself. You are infinitely more important than your job.

I’m seeing Ginger being added as a “perk” at a few workplaces so definitely look into that. Take care of yourself!

I agree with everyone above. Its your time that you have earned so its nobodys business what you are doing and why. Take the time off that you need.

$2000 each year for healthcare, which includes massage, osteopathy, acupuncture, therapist, speech therapy, and a few more things I'm forgetting.

We just expanded our benefits to $2500/year for health care and a separate $2500/year for psychotherapy.

We have 100% coverage for "Professional Services" up to $1500 per year, which includes therapy and massages among other things.

No, taking time off for mental health should not make you look like a liability. In fact, it can be seen as a responsible decision to take care of your well-being and prevent burnout, which can ultimately benefit both you and your employer.

If you're concerned about how taking time off for mental health may be perceived by your employer, consider having a conversation with your supervisor or HR representative. They may be able to provide you with additional support and resources or help address any concerns you may have.

Dyslexia! After having our kindergartener son tested (privately) related to ADHD, we were told he may have dyslexia too (which would explain why he struggles so much with phonics but is amazing at sight words). He has a very high IQ.
