Public by far. The private schools here have no union and there were no recourses for admin who abused their power which they routinely did. The benefits and retirement at public are far superior as well.
The pay of public the clientele of private.
I am considering "retirement" from public school and I can then move to private school. I will receive benefits/pension while working elsewhere. Just hoping children may be better behaved?? Are parents tougher to deal with?
The children are NOT better behaved and the parents are NOT easier to deal with. I taught at private for 11 years and public going on 19 years. Private school parents have used the phrase “I pay your salary” and “I’m paying for this and I should get what I ask for” more than once. There is definitely a sense of entitlement for both parents and kids in private (not from everyone, of course, but enough). I prefer public much more. I’m in a title I school and deal with pretty severe behaviors regularly but I learned how to deal with them at the private school. I had them there too.
Public schools are preferable.
I agree with all of the above statements. I much prefer public school. Parents are much more difficult to work with as they are paying for the education. Worse than private schools are charter schools. They pay far less, take all of your planning time during school hours and can let you go if you look at them wrong. I prefer public, then private, and then if I can find nothing else, charter schools, but do not recommend them.
