Every job description says they want an entrepreneurial mindset, but the second you question a broken process, it’s stay in your lane. I’ve been shut down for offering suggestions, warned not to go rogue, and told my initiative is making others look bad. I genuinely want to add value, but I’m tired of navigating minefields every time I speak up. How do you balance being proactive with staying politically safe?

Are you highlighting what's broken or offering a solution? Can you support it with data or something empirical? If you're familiar with spans and layers of a company. I'm in layer 6, if I feel like layer 5 or layer 4 above me aren't fully embracing my suggestion, I've find that it's sometimes because the change has to start at an even higher level (so I've met with the layer 3 or layer 2 leader even). I make my point quick and concise, tying the process improvement or business strategy improvement to the firm's bigger/broader objective or to the leadership level's KPIs so that the lines I'm drawing connect to their level of concern. HOWEVER, I don't work where I have to worry about making someone above me look bad. But maybe that's also a matter of how you package your idea? point no fingers. people shouldn't be but hurt. you're all on the same team. "If we X by 1,2,3, we should see LMNO improve" (that has nothing to do with someone doing a bad job)

Interesting. Most people I work with are open to process improvement.

Should I decline the offer and ask to be considered for a higher role that better fits my qualifications? The offer I had was with a great bank but I'm overqualified for that. Its been hard to find a job because I dont have prior experiences.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

Currently work in a very unique Wealth Management ops role.

Getting paid 85k base with 40k in bonus plus about 35k~ in OT.

Money isn’t everything but in my late 20s it feels like the only thing important right now.

WLB is next to zero as 60hr weeks are the minimum as of late. Management feels like they are trying to push a few of us out. Was told not to expect much come year end for comp. Any suggestions on finding a new role/pay expectations?
