PwC A recruiter from PWC reached out to me to ask if I’d consider a different office the one I applied to, since it’s full. It would be Boston, Hartford, Chicago, Minneapolis, Little Rock, Denver, San Francisco or San Jose. MSA candidate. Is there a fully remote option? Do you have to be in the office all the time? If you're about to join EXL, here’s a reality check. Most managers seriously lack hands-on knowledge — they stay quiet in client meetings and dump all the work on you. You’re basically expected to run the show, even if the team around you is under-skilled.
There’s no bench, no extra support, and zero proper planning. Shadow resources? That’s just a myth. Late-night calls are the norm — you may start at 9 or 11 am, but don’t expect to log off before midnight.
US stakeholders are treated like gods. You’re just the backend doing all their work, with little say and zero boundaries. And when appraisals come, they’ll still say the company didn’t do well and cut your variable.
If you’ve got a better offer — especially from product companies or places like Optum — take it. I’m telling every new joinee I meet to think twice. You deserve better than burnout and blame! Make optum to match delay joining by a week here if you can!
Go for EXL, since they are paying higher, work and culture is also fine.

I my experience has been similar in both, go for exl if Optum doesn’t come back.
Difference is huge, go for EXL dude unless Optum comes up with counter offer!

Mixed experiences…although the difference is huge but let me share a few things about EXL:
1. No Work culture
2. No skilled managerial layer as someone rightly pointed out above
3. Appraisals are meagre - delayed & below 10% even if your performance is above average. Even promotions are ~15%
4. There are absolutely no perks
If you can find someone who can answer similar questions, you’ll have your answer
Optum. EXL isn’t just worth it
Bro in exl forget your appraisal, it will be less than 5 % as you have higher ctc, if you are like to retire from there and micromanage you band below and be a toxic manager then join.
