Actuals require more time filing expenses which isn't really fun. Plus, client or PM can object to specific line items (happens at my firm at least). Just a PIA for everyone.
If a per-deim rate is reasonable then I'd take that every day. Let me manage the money and decide what to spend it on.
Depends on your lifestyle. If you need to be having $30 dinners with drinks, then per diem is not the life. If you're okay with cheaper meals and live more frugally, then per diem is better
I prefer actuals, and in fact I loved that PwC set actual limits ($75/100 by city) because it took away any “reasonable” ambiguity.
I think actuals are more appropriate and transparent both for clients and staff.
No limit/reasonable expense would be my preference...live life king size, when you work like a slave. At least, feel your efforts are worth it..
How much do people usually spend that is “reasonable"? Seems like the same as limited versus unlimited PTO where people are scared to use much
On travel days I probably spend around $100 on meals just because of how expensive airport food is
per diem is a little bit better because if you end up in a middle of nowhere you can take home money to spend at home. If you are in high cost area you usually end up even.
Per diem because I get to pocket the rest. Tbh idk what kind of diet I’d have with a no limit. Sounds like a recipe for weight gain
