Explain like I’m 5: Desantis’s Tort Reform bill. I’m starting a new job in Plaintiff PI soon. I’ve heard a lot of talk about Desantis’s bill. How does this bill affect our cases, in practice?

-Shorter statute of limitations.
-Changes to negligent security to allow criminal actor to be on verdict form and a presumption against liability if a property owner does certain things.
-Limits admissibility of medical bills, no more atty client privilege if atty refers client to a doctor, etc.

What about all the stuff with proving paid and unpaid damages. I see what the text says. But how are you seeing it play out and practically affect your cases?

I’m a 3rd year Associate at a fairly large injury firm. In my 2nd year my individual fees were $550k, this year I’ll eclipse $800k and next year I have $1.5mm or more lined up. (That’s just cases I signed/closed myself)
I’m the sole associate in the office, and also handle most of the training/marketing/networking in my office. My salary isn’t 6 figures and no performance incentive. At what point is it fair to ask/is it unrealistic or unreasonable to ask for some small performance incentive?
