Extremely disheartened by job hunt. I (5PQE) was laid off in December, and I took about 6 months off to travel. The job market has been much harder than I thought and the idea of being unemployed for this long sickens me. I’m in a specialist area as well, which is all the more disheartening as I thought it would be pretty easy to get a role. I feel like I’ve lost my skills and motivation and am struggling with suicidal ideations after every interview. Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m at $165k now, what should I ask for with my promotion?
