I am currently pursuing a position to be a 401k workplace planning consultant with Fidelity Investments. I would like to connect with someone who has gone through that training and early hiring process to make sure I have a solid understanding of the position. This is specifically for the Raleigh/Durham NC area if possible.

I think canceling could make you seem wishy-washy, and it sounds like you're trying to save face with the firm. I'd do the interview and them "decide" to stay a while.
People lateral every day. No reason to worry about saving face.
Something made you consider leaving in the first place. Take the interview. Check out the grass. If it doesn’t seem greener, get back on the clock.
Cancel the interview imo. I wouldn't feel great about wasting someone else's time just so I can get some experience with interviewing.
I’m trying to save face here in my community. These are two elite firms, and I have friends at both. I realize I should not have even begun the interview process if I was having second thoughts. I’m wondering whether I save more face / maximize social capital by (a) being honest and declining the full-day interview now or (b) going through the process, then (ideally) declining an offer. I know the latter would be inconvenient/ a waste of time for the other firm. But, if it went well, would I be better off declining with the offer in my pocket, saying that I’m not ready to leave, so that if I decide to try again in a year, I won’t have tarnished myself?
Obviously can’t talk to the headhunter or anyone at either firm about this.
This was an article I read several years ago which mentioned that nearly 80% of employees who turned down competing offers from other companies (note: not firms) and stayed at their existing position left within 6 months. Did a quick google and couldn't find the link, but agree with others, you started the process, it must've been for a reason.
Not to mention, if your all-day is next week and this firm is in fact "elite." Then it's very likely that members of the team have already taken the time and effort to dedicate the time of your interview block to you. If I were in this position, I would take the interview and then cite the glowing annual review you receive as reason that you're happy where you are.
