Feedback has gotten so gentle that I'm unsure if I am even doing a good job or not, sometimes. It gets to the point that I'm honestly confused about it. Like, are you suggesting how to be even better at my role? Or are you trying to say that what I'm doing is not good enough? Anyone else experience this problem? 😅

This is such an interesting observation. I have noticed something similar, where it feels like direct communication is almost discouraged and people can't handle it. Everyone is supposed to hedge around difficult conversations instead of just coming out with it. How did we get here? I don't think this is a good place for us to be in, especially in the healthcare industry. We need to keep each other accountable, and we can do so respectfully and directly

There was one manager that would give feedback like this. And while it was nice to have what felt like a mostly positive review, I was also kind of confused as to what I needed to do afterwards. Which can lead to problems anyways. Constructive criticism is usually better to get bluntly!

I've had some managers who seemed to have trouble expressing firm ideas on anything. So when they gave feedback it tended to be buzzwords and gibberish. I just accepted it and didn't let it bother me. I knew what I had to do, and I knew when I was going a good job anyway.

I don't mind using my own compass, but it puts me in a weird position when I want to ask for a raise and I don't know how to gauge if I've met what their expectations are to warrant that, since they're just always so vague on everything. Oy! Lol

My fiancé and I (ages 30 and 31) are about to buy a house. We would put down 10% for a 835k purchase price. Our combined income is $265k. We both have around 7-10k left in emergency funds (each) and combined about 200k for retirement. Our mortgage is $4,500 a month and we split a car payment for $800. Is this an okay financial decision or should we have bought a cheaper house/saved more?

I've got 4 years at a staffing agency after getting Masters in HRM and making a complete career change in 2018. Doing full cycle recruiting and account management. I feel I'm doing very well (in the role and with comp $57 base + commission = ~$91k last year) BUT I feel stuck!! I'm feeling undervalued and unchallenged. I think I'd love corporate recruiting/TA Specialist, etc. How do I make the jump? Should I just keep truckin??

It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for.
