Not at all. My goal is to make as much money while putting in as little work as possible.
This should be everyone’s goal. It’s advertising.
Nope. The pandemic has been eye opening. As cliché as it sounds, life is short and what we do is so dumb and unimportant. I gave most of my 20s and now nearly all my 30s to my career. I’m not doing that anymore.
Also - I hate the "we're going to set you up with a home office! Laptops and chairs for everyone! Aren't we generous and caring?!" Like, cool? And thank you? You literally have to provide the laptops for security of files and data, and for us to actually WFH... Please, for the love of cheese, stop acting like you're doing your employees a favor 😠🙈
I care when there’s something to care about. That happens less, but it still happens.
No, because does my job care about me? Also no.
I care about you
I genuinely care about money though
My job is to care about my team. So yeah, I actually care a lot. Sometimes to the detriment of myself.
Client challenges, politics, pitches, I’ll charge through all of it if I know it will benefit my team.
Anything that doesn’t, I don’t have time for.
Money is not aside, its front and center. Everything else is a side dish, or really, at most, free breadsticks.
No. I put in my notice last week.
no :( i’m looking for a new job and it’s SO hard to work this hard to basically beg for something i don’t even want
I care. Sometimes a bit too much.
As far as office type jobs go,. creative ad agency is a pretty great job.
Same ^
As someone who has made a career in advertising, but doesn't particularly enjoy the field as a whole anymore, I've been working towards finding a different way to care. One that's less aligned with the agency's goals (awards! cult-like allegiance to The Work!) and more aligned with what I selfishly want to get out of things at this point in my life (opportunities to mentor young talent; using remote work to create more autonomy for myself and create space for my life outside of my job; learning the business and media side of things so that I can go off and start my own non-advertising business in the next 5 years). I'm a person who's programmed to care, but I'm a lot happier when I focus on caring about what my job can give me, not what I can give it. Ironically, this has all made me better at my job and a better coworker to work with.
But caring in the traditional way that advertising people care? Nah. Honestly, never really did. The difference is the perspective of the last two years has helped me detach from the insecurity that caused me to stress and feel like I needed to shape my life around the overreaching requirements of jobs. Nothing is certain, except the choices that I make for myself. If my job works with that, great. If not, I've worked long enough, paid enough dues, and saved a big enough f-off fund to walk away when it stops serving me.
Love this, thank you!
money aside? no, man. I’m working for someone else’s dream.
Someone who get bored and bored turns into a real mental downturn. But I really like my job, it's challenging and interesting. I absolutely couldn't work a job I was bored or disinterested in for long, no matter the money
In it for the money, hopeful for something inspiring but haven’t had that in a long time
Anymore?
I’m just here so I get paid.
SC1 spot on answer
Regular people don’t care about what we do, so why should I?
I love it. The work is really inspiring and I’m constantly adding portfolio worthy things to my book. The career growth is pretty good too. And I don’t mind winning some awards.

Yes, I enjoy my job. I would look for a new challenge within my job if I wouldn’t.
