For biglaw people on H-1Bs/in the green card process who lateraled, any advice/lessons learned on sequencing/timing, etc.? Currently at a top shop and looking to stay in the same tier unless there are countervailing, immigration-related considerations to look elsewhere. Appreciate any tips.

PPMDs, if an employee comes to you and ask for support to join a different group within the firm and the employees ends up not getting the other role, do you typically treat them differently after (e.g., not staffing them on as many deals) / would you hold them back from promotion the following year?

My joining date is coming closer, however education background checks are still processing ( international degrees) . My onboarding coordinator told me that I can still join even if education check is still in progress, provided there wont be any flags. I don’t see any issue with my degrees and have done same with my past companies.
Anyone experienced this ? Any problem joining while check is processing ?

Anybody have experience with adjournment requests in the 1st Dept App Division? We have a respondent’s brief due a week from Wednesday. This past we submitted an application for adjournment. I’ve convinced my partner that we have good cause (record issues that need a motion to resolve) but now I’m starting to get worried. Are adjournments usually granted?
