For clerks with children, is it frowned upon to go home before the judge to pick up your kids? I may have to leave at 5-5:10 everyday, and I'm not sure if my judge will be pissed..

Every judge is different so you’ll need to ask yours. My co-clerks with kids often left early to pick up kids (and then logged on later if needed), but they also came in earlier than Judge and never fell behind on work.

Second this.

Communicate, most judges are reasonable. I always leave before my judge cause I have a train to catch. But, I’m always the first one in.

like

You’re probably not the first clerk with kids. This shouldn’t be a big ask

Ask your judge and do your best to communicate. It’s definitely harder to keep up with the hours childless co-clerks put in, depending on your child’s age, but try to run your own race and address things head-on with your judge.

I have a 20+ year career doing AdTech/BI/Analytics in media agencies. Started as an intern, rose up to director and board member at various agencies.

I switched to tech consulting at SM level early this year for the money but also to see new industries & learn something new. Had to quit the small firm I joined after only 5 months due to chaotic and overbearing leadership. Now I have an offer from Avanade and one from a big media agency on the table.

Should I go back or stay in consulting?

Need advice on a specific question!
Interviewed with Chicago court 2 weeks ago; they decide mid-August. Interviewed with DC judge last week; hear from him by this Friday. Chicago said if I need an answer before August, they'd try to make a decision about me sooner.
Should I ask Chicago for an answer? Or should I wait until there's an offer from DC judge? Maybe seems better to withdraw before an offer is made rather than ask for time to think about it/turn down DC? What's proper etiquette?

I went to a T14 law school, got great grades and glowing recommendations, and wrote (what I thought was) a great writing sample. But I got rejected from all 70 federal clerkships I applied to. The only thing I can think of is: I took a non traditional route after law school and did a 2 year public interest fellowship in a niche field of administrative law. The rejection gave me a lot of self hatred. I still really want to clerk. Any advice? What is wrong with me? I feel like a failure.

Hello everyone! I am a Judicial Law Clerk, which I have been for a little over two years now. However, I’m planning on moving into the AML/Compliance realm. I have a background in finance, having been a Finance Disbursing Officer in the Army for 6 years with one deployment in that role. Additionally, I am currently a JAG attorney and studying for my CAMS, hoping to take that exam in the next month or two. Any advice or referrals for anyone I can talk to learn more about the field? Thanks! :)
